Hi @Dancer135

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your Windows 11 PC is able to print from the HP DeskJet 2633, but it's not able to scan. This could be due to several reasons related to the printer setup, drivers, or network configuration. Let’s walk through the possible solutions to resolve the scanning issue.

1. Check the Printer Connection to Windows 11 PC

Since you're using a USB switch to share the printer between two PCs, the connection might not be established properly for scanning on the Windows 11 PC. Sometimes, when switching between multiple computers, the printer may not be recognized correctly by the scanning software.

Things to try:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected: Make sure the printer is directly connected to the Windows 11 PC when attempting to scan, rather than through the USB switch. Even though it's shared, scanning might not work properly if the printer isn't directly connected.
  • Check USB switch: If you're using the USB switch while attempting to scan, make sure the switch is properly configured and functioning correctly.

2. Reinstall or Update Printer Drivers

Sometimes, scanning issues can be caused by missing or outdated drivers, especially with the transition between multiple PCs.

Steps to follow:

  • Uninstall the current printer drivers on the Windows 11 PC:
    1. Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select it).
    2. Find the HP DeskJet 2633 under Printers and right-click to Uninstall device.
    3. Disconnect and reconnect the printer to the Windows 11 PC.
  • Install the latest drivers for your printer:
    1. Go to the HP support page for DeskJet 2633 and download the latest drivers for Windows 11.
    2. Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install both the printer and scanner drivers.
  • If you’re using the HP Smart app for scanning, ensure it's up to date. It may offer a smoother experience for managing scanning tasks.

3. Check Windows 11 Scan Settings

It’s possible that the scan function is not enabled or configured correctly on your Windows 11 PC.

Steps to check:

  • Open Windows Settings and navigate to Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select the HP DeskJet 2633 from the list and click Manage.
  • Click Scanner or Scan options. Ensure that everything is configured properly for scanning.

Alternatively, use the built-in Windows Fax and Scan app:

  1. Open the Start Menu and search for Windows Fax and Scan.
  2. Open the program and try scanning from there.

4. Check for Conflicts with Other Software

If you have multiple scanning programs installed (such as HP Smart, Windows Scan, or third-party software), they could be conflicting with each other, preventing scanning on your Windows 11 PC.

Solutions:

  • Disable or uninstall other scanning software temporarily to check if the default scanner software works.
  • If you're using HP Smart, ensure it's updated to the latest version from the Microsoft Store.

5. Test Using the HP Scan Doctor

HP Scan Doctor is a diagnostic tool that can help identify and fix issues related to HP scanning.

  • Download HP Scan Doctor from the HP support website and run it.
  • It will scan your system and try to identify any issues with the printer or scanning software. It can also assist in repairing any problems with the driver installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
