Hi @Kirkflia,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A blinking red light on your HP printer often indicates a hardware or cartridge issue. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the problem and get your HP printer back to copying:

**1. Check for Specific Error Codes

a. Refer to Printer Manual or HP Support:

  • Error Codes: Sometimes, the blinking red light might be accompanied by a specific error code or message on the printer’s display. Check your printer’s manual or the HP Support website for details about what the blinking red light means for your specific model.

**2. Basic Troubleshooting Steps

**a. Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the Printer: Open the printer’s access door to reveal the ink cartridges.
  2. Remove and Reinstall Cartridges: Carefully remove the ink cartridges and reinstall them, making sure they are securely seated.
  3. Check for Tape or Packaging: Ensure there is no tape or packaging material still on the cartridges.
  4. Replace Cartridges if Necessary: If the cartridges are old or empty, replace them with new ones.

**b. Check for Paper Jams

  1. Inspect Paper Path: Look inside the printer for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any jammed paper carefully.
  2. Check Tray: Ensure the paper is correctly loaded in the paper tray and not misaligned or crumpled.

**c. Reset the Printer

  1. Power Off: Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug: Unplug the printer from the power source and wait for about 60 seconds.
  3. Plug In and Power On: Plug the printer back in and turn it on. Check if the red light is still blinking.

**3. Advanced Troubleshooting

**a. Check for Printer Firmware Updates

  1. Visit HP Support: Go to the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer.
  2. Follow Instructions: Download and install any updates if applicable.

**b. Perform a Printer Diagnostic Test

  1. HP Printer Utility: Some HP printers come with diagnostic utilities that can help identify and fix issues.
  2. Run Diagnostic Test: Access the diagnostic test through the printer’s control panel or the HP software installed on your computer.

**5. Replace Printer Components (if necessary)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
