Hi @Splitmama

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're unable to print PDF files from the HP Smart app on your iPad, but can print other file types, there may be a few possible causes and solutions to try. Here’s how you can troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check the Printer Connection

Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iPad. The HP Smart app relies on a strong, stable connection to print, and if either device is on a different network, this could prevent the PDF from printing.

  • Go to the printer's control panel and print a network configuration page to confirm it's connected to your Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure your iPad is also connected to the same network.

2. Check the HP Smart App

Ensure that your HP Smart app is up to date:

  • Go to the App Store on your iPad and check for any available updates for the HP Smart app.
  • If there is an update available, install it, then try printing the PDF again.

3. Try a Different PDF Viewer

There may be a compatibility issue between the PDF file and the HP Smart app. Try using a different app to open the PDF and print it:

  • Open the PDF in the Apple Books app or Adobe Acrobat Reader on your iPad.
  • From there, tap the Share button and select Print.
  • Check if the printer is available and if the PDF prints correctly.

4. Clear Cache and Restart the App

Sometimes, clearing the cache or restarting the app can resolve small glitches:

  • Close the HP Smart app completely by double-tapping the Home button and swiping up on the app to close it.
  • Open the app again and try printing the PDF file.

5. Ensure PDF File is Not Corrupt

Check if the PDF file is corrupted. You can try printing a different PDF to verify if the issue is specific to one file.

  • Try printing a simple PDF, such as a sample PDF from the internet, and see if it prints.
  • If other PDFs work, then the original file may be damaged.

6. Update Your iPad to the Latest iOS

While you mentioned you're using iOS 18.3, it's always good to ensure that your device is running the latest version of iOS.

  • Go to Settings > General > Software Update and check if there's a newer version of iOS available.
  • If an update is available, install it and then try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
