Hi @JJVicente,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The error OW_4XX_OWSWS00001 — “Unable to register the printer to your account” — during the setup of your HP OfficeJet 8010e from an iPad is a cloud registration failure. This typically occurs when the printer cannot complete its connection to HP’s cloud services during setup via the HP Smart app.

1. Update the HP Smart App

  • Go to the App Store on your iPad.
  • Search for HP Smart and tap Update (or Open if already up to date).

2. Ensure the Printer Is Ready for Setup

  • Remove all packing materials (including tape inside the printer).
  • Make sure the printer is powered on and showing a blinking blue wireless light (Wi-Fi setup mode).
  • If not blinking, reset Wi-Fi setup mode:
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons for 5 seconds.

3. Restart Devices

  • Turn the printer off and back on.
  • Close the HP Smart app completely on your iPad.
  • Reopen the app and try setting up again.

4. Restore Factory Defaults (if issue persists)

  • Open the HP Smart app > Tap your printer > Advanced Settings
  • Or access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) using its IP address
  • Navigate to:
Settings > Restore Defaults > Restore Factory Defaults > Yes
  • The printer will restart and return to setup mode

5. Retry Setup

  • Reopen HP Smart and follow the setup steps again
  • Make sure your iPad is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (not 5 GHz)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
