Try these steps:

Restart your Mac: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve many issues.

Check Printer Connection: Ensure the printer is properly connected to your Mac and powered on. Try reconnecting the USB cable or re-establishing the wireless connection.

Update Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are updated. Visit the HP Support website to download the latest drivers and firmware for your HP printer.

Reset Printing System: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. Right-click (or Control-click) in the list of printers and select "Reset Printing System." This will remove all printers and pending jobs, and may resolve the error.

Reinstall Printer: Remove the printer from your list, then attempt to add it again through System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
