I want to use a more economical ink, and this printer has block my choice to do that forcing me to only use HP inks-- I need a way to fix this problem, that's the first thing.

The second thing is since I was forced to go and purchase the HP inks I had to check the levels of all the inks before I left and I had 100 print pages left on Cyan and Magenta and 300 on black--- the only the printer said was empty was yellow so I purchased the 3 pack and put the yellow in and low and behold NOW THE PRINTER SAYS  CYAN AND MAGENTA ARE EMPTY----I want to know the ACTUAL levels not the estimated ones -- how can I look at the ACTUAL levels of my cartridges because I feel ripped off???!!!

Hi @Wildreign,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are facing issues with the Yellow ink cartridge. I'd like to help!

Are you using HP genuine ink cartridges?

Update the printer firmware-

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which are refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
