Hi

I have a HP Laserjet M209dw Printer with a Blinking Toner Light, unable to Clear.

I tried the 5 minute power off, and I tried the remove and reinstall toner cartridge steps with no effect.

It is very frustrating as I pay for Instant Ink service from HP, and now I have "downtime" and a partner who is disappointed in HP and somehow...me...

Help !!!

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

It sounds frustrating, especially with the Instant Ink service involved and the pressure of a disappointed partner. Let's try to troubleshoot this together.

Here are a few things you can try to resolve the blinking toner light issue with your HP Laserjet:

 

Ensure the toner cartridge is seated properly. If it’s not installed correctly, the printer may not recognize it. Try removing the toner, inspecting it for any damage or obstruction, and reinstalling it carefully.

 

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Remove the cartridges.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back in.
  6. Wai for few minutes and then insert the cartridges (let printer prompt for cartridges)
  7. Turn on the printer

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
