OfficeJet 5260
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer works great till it sits for more than 30 min or less it will turn the screen white and give the Error Code 0x00541654 TX_ILL_HP C

only way to get out of it is to unplug it and wait 10-15 seconds and plug it back in. other than that there is no way to hold down the power button to restart it you need to unplug and hard boot it?

please advise this is getting very annoying and frustrating. Thanks

@KevinMarcusRiv, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer becomes unresponsive after some time. Is the printer connected to a network? If yes, proceed to the next step.

Assign a static IP address to the printer

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Monitor the printer.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

so far so good! i made the changes and it printed fine and scanned etc.... and it fell asleep after 15 min no white screen with the error as of yet... fingers crossed...

what causes this to happen? Just curious?

@HP4545s

It could be because of the dynamic IP address given to the printer by the router. Changing it to a static IP address helps.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
