Hi @Poppa8

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer is giving you a paper size mismatch error when attempting to print from the glass, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Verify Paper Settings: Ensure that the paper size selected in the printer settings matches the paper loaded in the input tray.

  • Open the input tray on the printer.
  • Verify the paper size in the tray, and align it properly.
  • On the printer control panel, touch the Settings icon.
  • Select Paper Handling or Tray Settings.
  • Verify and adjust the paper size settings if needed.

Check Paper Guides and Tray Alignment: Make sure the paper-width guides in the input tray are properly adjusted against the edges of the paper stack.

  • Slide in the paper-width and paper-length guides until they rest against the edges of the paper.

Modify Paper Size Settings: Modify the paper size settings directly from the printer's control panel.

  • After loading the paper, touch Modify on the printer control panel if the paper size loaded does not match the displayed size.
  • Select your paper size and type, then touch Done.

Clean the Paper Feed Rollers: If paper size mismatch is recurring, clean the paper feed rollers as dust and debris might cause incorrect detection.

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord.
  • Clean the rollers inside the ink cartridge access area and the rear of the printer with a lint-free cloth mildly dampened with distilled water.
  • Let the rollers dry completely before reconnecting the power cord.

  1. Reset Printer: Sometimes, resetting the printer helps clear errors.
    • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
    • Unplug the power cord from the power source and wait for 60 seconds.
    • Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
