Hi @EvertH ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 519 All-in-One printer is not printing black even though there is ink in the tank, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Ink Levels: Ensure that there is enough black ink in the tank. You can check the ink levels through the printer software on your computer or directly on the printer's display panel.

Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Most HP printers have a built-in diagnostic tool that can help identify and fix print quality issues. Look for this feature in your printer's menu or settings. It may be labeled as "Print Quality Report" or something similar.

Clean Printhead: Printheads can become clogged, especially if the printer has not been used for a while. In your printer settings or on the printer's control panel, look for an option to clean the printhead. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the cleaning process.

Align Printhead: Proper alignment is crucial for good print quality. Check if your printer has an option to align the printhead. This process ensures that the nozzles are properly aligned for accurate printing.

Check for Software Updates: Make sure that your printer's software and firmware are up to date. Visit the HP website, locate your printer model, and download any available updates. Updated software can often address performance and compatibility issues.

Manually Clean Printhead: If the automatic printhead cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, you can try manually cleaning the printhead. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this. Typically, it involves gently wiping the printhead with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.

Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges: Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-genuine or expired cartridges may not provide the best print quality or may cause issues with the printhead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-

Hi @Gaya1239,

Thanks for your answer.

I also have the exact same issue and would like to "Manually Clean Printhead" but the carriage wont move to the center and therefore I cannot remove the printhead.

Where can I find instructions on how to move Manually Clean Printhead or move the carriage to the center, without and Error Message (HP website says somewhere that the carriage moves to the center when opening the printer only if there is an Error Message.

Thanks
