Microsoft Windows 11

I have a blinking yellow light and I have unplugged the printer. This is on a LaserJet M234sdwe printer.

We have replaced the ink cartridge and still get the blinking yellow light.

Hi @Raphael2469,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A blinking yellow light on the HP LaserJet M234sdwe printer typically indicates a warning or an error condition. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Check for Error Messages: Look at the printer's display panel or check for any error messages on your connected computer. This can give more specific information about what is causing the blinking yellow light.

Reset the Printer:

  • Unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

Reinstall the Ink Cartridge:

  • Open the printer's access door.
  • Remove the toner cartridge and inspect it for any protective tape or packaging that may not have been removed.
  • Reinsert the toner cartridge properly, ensuring it is seated correctly.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Open all access doors and trays to check for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Remove any jammed paper carefully to avoid tearing it.

Check the Connectivity:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your network or computer.
  • Check the USB or Ethernet cable connections if applicable.
  • If using WiFi, ensure the printer is connected to the correct network.

Update Firmware and Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and check for any firmware or driver updates for your printer model.
  • Download and install any available updates.

Factory Reset: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you might need to perform a factory reset. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold the Resume button (the button with the triangle) and the Wireless button simultaneously.
  • While holding these buttons, turn the printer back on and hold the buttons until the attention light (yellow light) starts blinking. Release the buttons and wait for the printer to restart.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, there might be a more serious hardware issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
