This is because you are using the HP Smart app to scan. The screenshot I attached is of the full-feature printer software. 

Click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

yeah...I've downloaded that twice and run it already.  Still not seeing that scan software.

It stops at this dialog screen.  Always.
