Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "E" message that appears on the screen of your HP Envy 6000 printer typically indicates an error or issue that the printer is experiencing. HP printers use different error codes to communicate specific problems, and the "E" message is often associated with the following:
Possible Causes of the "E" Error Message:
Cartridge or Ink Issues:
- The "E" error might indicate a problem with the ink cartridges, such as them being not installed correctly, incorrectly detected, or empty. If a cartridge is faulty or improperly seated, it may trigger an error code.
- Check the cartridges to ensure they are correctly installed.
- If you recently replaced the cartridges, make sure they are the correct type for your printer model.
- Try reinstalling the cartridges to ensure they are seated properly.
Paper Jam:
- Sometimes, an "E" error can appear if there’s a paper jam inside the printer.
- Open the printer and carefully check for any paper stuck in the feed or inside the paper path.
- Clear any jammed paper and ensure there is no debris inside the printer.
Network Connection Issues:
- If you're printing over Wi-Fi or a network connection, an "E" message might also indicate a connectivity problem between the printer and your router or device.
- Check if your printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network.
- Ensure that the network connection is stable and the printer is online.
- Try restarting your printer and router to refresh the connection.
General Printer Malfunction:
- An "E" message might also point to a generic error in the printer, such as an issue with the internal mechanics or the firmware.
- Restart the printer: Turn it off, wait for 10-15 seconds, and turn it back on to see if the error clears.
- Perform a reset: If you are still seeing the "E" message, try performing a factory reset to restore the printer's settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
