HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer

I just got this printer a few months ago, brand new. I have had instant ink since I got it. About a month ago I woke up to find all the lights flashing on the printer with an E on the display as well. I have been trying to resolve this for over two weeks. I spent a good amount of time with customer support as they accessed my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled, had me unplug and plug it in and I hoped it would be fixed. That was yesterday. Today I wake up with all the lights flashing again. I reached out again and this time the person says it's because of my instant ink service that my service was suspended or I guess he was implying my charge didn't go through and that is not true. I was just charged on the 17th.

I've done all the basic DIY troubleshooting, I did a hard reset, I moved my printer and plugged it directly into the wall, I have cleaned the ink cartridges, I have run the HP diagnostics, I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I let HP Customer support access my printer and do everything they needed to do. What next? Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi @sweetmunequita,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your printer that has blinking lights.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.

A) Perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) Refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.

D) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults and let me know if that resolves the issue.

When I attempted to do the factory reset, it triggered the error with all the lights flashing and HP Smart app said system failure. I restarted my printer and it is still flashing lights. Normally if I turn it off and on again it corrects itself until the issue triggers itself again overnight. I'm not sure what to do with my printer now. I'm definitely not happy since it seems to be worse now.

Update, after wasting hours trying to fix my printer, missing dinner, and wanting to just throw the printer into the dumpster, I decided to cancel my instant ink subscription and put my old ink cartridges into the printer. The flashing lights stopped and I was able to print a test page. Unfortunately, the ink must have dried up since they were not being used so nothing printed BUT the lights aren't flashing. I'll leave it on all night and see if I get the same error.

The downside is that I really needed to print some things for my daughter's school and I cannot print now. Even though I'm supposed to have 2 weeks left of my instant ink subscription I can not use the cartridges because I "don't have an active instant ink subscription" which is completely ridiculous.

I used to be a huge supporter and loyal user of HP Computers and Printers and this whole situation is beyond disappointing.
