We use the Digital Fax to email feature - on our OfficeJet All-in-One 8740 - to have all incoming faxes sent directly to our **bleep** account...   a very handy fax feature.    And it seems to work great for small faxes but on occasion - we get very large digital fax - like 80-100 pages...   and these larger faxes - seem to get STUCK in the fax machine memory - and are NEVER forwarded to our **bleep**...??   We can see that they have been succussfully recieve in the FAX LOG - as a .PDF file.    But they are not sent out to our email account. The ONLY option to recover these LOST LARGE faxes is to print them out - which is a large waste of paper and ink.

Does anyone know if there is a page limit - on the forwarding of  Digital Faxes to a **bleep** email account?   or is there any way to download one of these very large fax PDF files that are stored in the Printer memory - so we don't lose them.

Any insights into this Digiital Fax to email issue would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the HP English Community --

The printer supports two "Digital Send" features

Digital sending Standard: Scan-to email; Fax archive to email

Memory Standard 512 MB; Maximum 512 MB

Not included on this printer

Digital sending Standard:  Scan to Network Folder

That the faxes can be printed means they are not Lost.

True - it's a matter of semantics.

Lost is "gone", not retrievable by any means, including printing.

Lost might be a result of the printer memory not holding the content.

I believe the result is due to the limit of the printer memory.

NOTE:

This last one sounds great - remember the receiving device (Mac / PC) must be online, awake, and ready to receive the input.  The fax cannot wake up the receiver and will default to printing the fax content.

Secondary Note:

Even the newer version of the 8740, currently the top-shelf OfficeJet Pro 9135e  (1.2GHz processor / 512 MB memory), still limits the fax archive and forwarding to 100 pages of fax memory.   The 9135e does support Fax Archive to Network Folder.  No idea whether that would make any difference since the fax must be received to be shunted to a network folder destination.
