I changed the black ink cartridge. Afterwards, on the small screen on the printer a message appears: E 0. The ! and ink pics are flashing, as well as E 0. I am unable to clear the error to print. My printer is online.

That “E0” error with the blinking ink and ! icons usually means the printer isn’t recognizing the new black cartridge properly. Try this:

 

Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall for about a minute.

Gently remove the black cartridge, check for any protective tape (even a tiny piece left behind can trigger this).

Reinsert it snugly — you should feel a soft click.

Plug it back in and turn it on.

 

If the lights still flash, it might be a faulty cartridge. If it's new and genuine HP, the place of purchase may offer a replacement.
