Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- If the printer is not used for a couple of weeks or a month, there are chances where the ink in the cartridges can dry up.
- There will also be some dust accumulated inside the printer which may cause the mechanism not to function smoothly.
- There is an option to clean the ink cartridges and the printhead via the printer or the software in such cases.
- It is recommended to print/copy 1-2 sheets at least once in a week or two to maintain the smooth functioning of the printer.
