I am very angry.  I bought this printer direct from HP in October 2023 and signed up for Instant Ink.  I was subsequently sent a new cartridge which I didn't actually need.  I then encountered a problem connecting to the internet and printed via usb connection.  I then received a bill not only for the monthly charge, but for an extra 50 pages.  All  this for just ONE cartridge.  Meanwhile my credit  card had expired.  The end of the billing period was reached, and my printer will no longer work.  I have spent hours on online chat while the 'experts' take me through endless chats - last one I ended after two hours plus with no result, though the 'expert' said there was still a long way to go 'to reach a solution'.  

Now I discover that it's quite possible the printer is not working because I have cancelled Instant Ink.  Is this true?  If so, it is a disgusting con.  I previously had an HP printer for the best part of 20 years without any problem, though I was buying the replacement cartridges at  a very inflated price.  I bought direct from HP because I trusted  them, and because I was offered a Tesco voucher of up to £50 - which never arrived.  I am frustrated and disappointed, and shall be publicising a warning to anyone else thinking of going to what should be a reputable company.

The situation should not be complicated - no "long way to solution".

 

True -

Regardless of how it comes about, once the contract is terminated, the subscription ink / toner stops working.

 

Ink is provided only during the time the subscription is active.

 

What else?

 

Instant Ink is a Print-by-Page subscription plan.

You choose the plan that makes sense for your use of the printer.

People who benefit most from having a monthly ink service that includes ink are perhaps those who print regularly and often and those whose monthly printing is ink intensive.

 

True - Should you print more than provided by your plan you are charged for extra page sets.
