I have read many requests for help with a C309a printer but no resolutions to the "stuck carriage".

Printer carriage stuck on the right side. Resetting and re initializing hasn't helped.

I get error message about a non existent paper jam.

Product was introduced in 2009

Nice printer - "Vintage" is a kind word.  This is old hardware and older technology by standards that measure the longevity of consumer grade products.

There is every possibility that the reason you do not find the help you seek is that those of us who try to help have no additional information that makes any difference to the results.   There are other equally likely reasons, of course. 

What else?

• Clean the the track as best as can be done
• Check for tiny debris stuck in the tracks, especially at either end. 
• Make sure the environment is not too warm, too dry, too damp, and make sure the printer is sitting on flat, stable surface.  What?  All these are things to avoid, especially when using old, fragile equipment)

If you cannot find the help you need for your printer and you love your printer, unplug it and haul it over to a local printer repair house - a good technician should be able to look at the printer and tell you 1) If it can be fixed, and 2) If the repair is worth the time, effort, and expense.
