my 8610 printer wouldn't print, so it suggested I uninstall and reinstall.  I uninstalled but when I tried to reinstall it couldn't find my printer.  This is on a brand new windows 11 computer.

Hi @didi1955

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 isn’t printing after connecting it to your new Windows 11 computer. It’s genuinely frustrating when a fresh setup doesn’t go smoothly—especially after trying to reinstall and the printer still isn’t found.

You’ve done the right thing by staying persistent, and I’ll guide you through a clean reconnection path to help restore printing.

Step-by-step actions to reconnect and restore printing on HP OfficeJet Pro 8610

1. Reset the printer’s network settings

If the printer was previously connected to a different network, it may not be discoverable.

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Wireless > Restore Network Settings.
  • Confirm and wait for the printer to reset its wireless configuration.

This puts the printer into Wi-Fi setup mode, making it discoverable again.

2. Reconnect using the HP App

  • Download and install the HP App from the Microsoft Store:
    HP App – Microsoft Store
  • Open the app and click Add Printer.
  • Ensure your computer is on the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to join.
  • Select your printer from the list and follow the prompts to complete setup.

3. Install the full driver package

  • Visit:
    HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 Drivers
  • Download and install the Full Feature Software and Driver for Windows 11.
  • Restart your computer after installation.

4. Run the Diagnose & Fix tool

5. Try USB setup (if wireless fails)

  • Connect the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Windows should detect the printer and install basic drivers automatically.
  • Once connected, you can switch to wireless setup from the HP App.

Let me know how the printer responds after these steps. If it still doesn’t appear, we can explore alternate setup paths using manual IP configuration or embedded web server access.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
