Hi @schooner252,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the print alignment failure on your HP Photosmart 5525 could be related to the aftermarket ink or the alignment page itself. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the Alignment Page:

  • Make sure the alignment page is placed correctly on the scanner glass, usually in the top-left corner. Double-check for any smudges, dirt, or wrinkles on the page.

Clean the Scanner Glass:

  • Dust, fingerprints, or smudges on the scanner glass can interfere with the alignment process. Clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth and a mild glass cleaner.

Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges:

  • Aftermarket ink cartridges may not always work well with the alignment process. If possible, try using genuine HP ink cartridges to see if that resolves the issue.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reinsert them to make sure they are seated properly.

Perform Printer Maintenance:

  • Run any available printer maintenance or cleaning routines from the printer’s control panel or HP software.

Reset the Printer:

  • Sometimes a simple reset can resolve issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for your Photosmart 5525.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
