Hi @g332

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating this must be, especially after replacing the cartridges multiple times. Let's go through some HP-specific troubleshooting steps to resolve the ink cartridge error on your HP DeskJet 4155e.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for Ink Cartridge Errors

Check Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure you are using HP 67 ink cartridges, as they are the correct ones for the HP DeskJet 4155e.
  • If you purchased them from a third-party vendor, verify they are genuine HP cartridges.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds before plugging it back in.
  • Turn the printer back on and check if the error persists.

Remove and Reinstall the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove both cartridges and inspect them for any damage or leaks.
  • Reinsert them firmly into their respective slots until they click into place.
  • Close the access door and check if the error is resolved.

Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the cartridges and gently wipe the copper contacts on both the cartridges and the printer’s cartridge slot using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Allow them to dry completely before reinserting.

Align the Ink Cartridges

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Cartridges.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Open HP Smart on your computer or mobile device.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings > Firmware Update.
  • Install any available updates and restart the printer.

Try Printing a Test Page

  • If the error persists, attempt to print a test page from the printer’s control panel.
  • If only certain colors are printing, the cartridge may be defective.

Let me know if you need further clarification! I know how frustrating printer errors can be, but hopefully, this gets your DeskJet 4155e back up and running. 😊
