I'm getting a 79 service code on my HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M277c6.I've upgraded my software and disabled the IPv6. The printer will print from an email but not from my desktop files.

Hi @DAB63,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting a 79 Service Error on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277c6 typically indicates a firmware or connectivity issue. Since you've updated the software and disabled IPv6, here are some further steps to help resolve the problem:
1. Restart the Printer
- Turn the printer off.
- Disconnect it from the power source for 1-2 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
2. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed:
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter your printer model: MFP M277c6.
- Download and install the latest firmware.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
3. Clear Print Queue
Sometimes corrupted print jobs can trigger a 79 error. Clear the print queue:
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find Print Spooler in the list.
- Right-click Print Spooler, select Stop, and clear all files in: C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
- Restart the Print Spooler.
4. Reinstall the Printer Driver
- Uninstall the existing printer driver from your computer:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer and choose Remove device.
- Download the latest driver from HP's website:
- Visit the HP Driver Page.
- Choose the Full Solution Software package.
- Install the new driver and connect the printer.
5. Reset Network Settings
Reset the printer's network settings to clear any misconfigurations:
- Access the Setup Menu on the printer's control panel.
- Navigate to Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
- Reconnect the printer to your network and verify it's using the correct IPv4 address.
6. Check Desktop File Print Settings
If the printer works for emails but not desktop files:
- Ensure the correct printer is selected in the print dialog.
- Try printing from a different program (e.g., Word, Adobe Reader).
- If the issue persists, check the file format compatibility or try printing a similar file type.
7. Factory Reset
If the problem persists, reset the printer to factory settings:
- On the printer, navigate to Setup > Service > Restore Defaults.
8. Test Print
- Print a test page from the printer control panel or HP Smart app to confirm functionality.
