The "88 error code" with all lights flashing on your HP Smart Tank 6001 typically indicates a hardware or system issue.
Let’s go through some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this:
Step 1: Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 2–3 minutes to allow the printer to reset.
- Plug it back in and turn it on to see if the error clears.
Step 2: Check for Obstructions
- Open the printer’s access doors and inspect for any paper jams, debris, or obstructions.
- Remove any visible blockages carefully.
Step 3: Reset the Printer
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
Step 4: Inspect the Printheads
- Open the printhead access area and check if the printheads are properly seated.
- If they appear loose, remove and reinstall them securely.
Step 5: Update Firmware
- Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support
- Download and install the latest firmware updates for your printer.
