@AJP66, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The error message "Printer Failure. There is a problem with the printer or print system" generally indicates an issue with the printer's ink system. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve this error:

Recommended Actions

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Wait for 60 seconds and connect the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the printer.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Check for Level Surface:

  • Ensure the printer is placed on a level surface using the "round object roll test." Place a small round object, like a ball or marble, on top of the printer. Ideally, the object should not roll. If it does, particularly to the back and left, the printer is likely level. If it rolls differently, adjust the printer to make it level.

Inspect Ink Supplies:

  • Open the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer’s IP address into a web browser. Check which ink supplies show an error status.
  • Remove any ink supplies indicated with an error and replace any that feel low or empty.

Replace Ink Cartridges: If the error persists despite the above steps, consider replacing all ink cartridges with new ones.
