Hi @TrishKing2387,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The E3 error code on an HP printer typically indicates a paper jam or a problem with the paper feed mechanism. Here’s what you can do to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Open the printer’s paper tray and carefully inspect for any jammed paper.
- Check the rear of the printer for any paper stuck in the rollers.
- Remove any jammed paper you find, making sure to pull it out gently to avoid damaging the printer.
Inspect the Paper Feed Mechanism:
- Check if there are any obstructions or debris in the paper feed area.
- Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly in the tray and is not exceeding the maximum capacity.
Clean the Rollers:
- Dust and debris on the rollers can cause paper feed issues. Clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with water or isopropyl alcohol.
Check the Paper Type and Quality:
- Make sure you are using the correct type and size of paper recommended for your printer. Avoid using wrinkled or damaged paper.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Check the HP website for any available updates for your model.
If you have the serial number, you can share it here, and I might be able to guide you further!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
