I submitted a complaint to Barclays over a week ago, I also reported via "chat".

Had no response at all. I hope others have done the same as I told them it is a common problem.

Their "select and print a statement" feature only prints the header and footer data  - so the middle of the page (where transactions should be is blank. I cans save the statement as a PDF, it looks ok, but if I print it, I get the same result.

I need to provide my auditor with hardcopy (always have), but they may have to settle for a memory stick with PDF.

I suspect this is an Adobe (PDF) security feature - but Barclays have invoked it in error.... after all why offer a function to print your statement, and then prevent you from doing so.

This probably requires HP tech support to call Barclays tech support on behalf of us all.

My 5-year old Samsung did not have this issue, probably because it did not recognise Adobe's security protocols - so either Barclays takes them off or HP must ignore them.

Please do not fob me off with "have you/could you try this..." it should work out of the box (which arrived 2 weeks ago).

Surely enough people have raised this same issue for it to be taken seriously...... meanwhile I am about to complain to Barclays  as soon as this is posted (19 Jan 21), suggest others do the same.

Hi,

This is likely due to any setting of the document itself or its security settings indeed.

Please try printing the file to the virtual Microsoft Save to PDF print queue and save it as a file to your desktop, then open the file.

Open and review the created PDF file, is it fine?

If so, print the file and check how it goes, it can be used as a workaround.

If the PDF file show the same issue, meaning it is not the printer driver in any way, but only the original source and have nothing to do with the printer driver.

I tried the "save as PDF then print" before I looked on your site for a solution, also tried pasting to various editors but no joy.

Like I said, "try this or that" is a waste of time - I should not have to use a work-around as this problem has been reported for about 6 months, so should have been sorted by HP or Barclays. I am an IT consultant (was also contracted to Barclays to fix PPI system issues a while back) - so they are not infallible.

Clearly, there are many other M283 owners who have the same problem, and I assume they too have moaned at Barclays to no avail - so I ask HP to talk to Barclays tech team on our behalf and resolve the issue. Their own advice is try a browser like Chrome - which IS my browser.

I did read your advice, but I firmly believe it is a Barclays problem, but I do not have the clout of HP to make them take note - after all why do they offer "select and print a statement" and then set a security protocol to prevent printing. As you can see from your own archives (since M283 was launched 6 months ago) this is a common problem of your customers.

That is clear @RayDJ , my question is only how are the results with the Print to PDF output?

  1. When you print to Microsoft Save as PDF and create the PDF and open it - does it look good or can you see the same behavior on this file too?
  2. Assuming the PDF file looks OK, what happens when you print this file to the printer?

Can you clarify above please?
