I bought an Officejet Pro 9015 last week in July 2021. Five weeks later, "low ink" warning appears on the printer's panel screen - and it will not go away. I read 8 posts in a related thread, no solutions. I reset the printer (left it turned on when I pulled the plug out), opened the printer cartridge door and then closed it, checked for firmware updates. Went into HP Smart to see if I could circumvent the panel and override it. No matter what I tried, the "low ink" warning would not go away. Clicking "OK" on that message just made a faint click sound in the printer; the message would NOT go away. I could not copy or scan from the printer.
HP Smart says there are "low" cartridges and then says - in the same sentence - "it is not necessary to replace the cartridges yet."
I called HP Customer Support. While waiting on line, I tried to print the email from HP with the case # on it I had just received. "Low ink" message is still on the printer control panel. The email printed, no issues.
Still waiting, I went into HP Smart and kept looking for a way to override. It kept showing the ink levels per cartridge and saying it was not necessary to replace yet. At the bottom of that HP Smart page, there were 2 buttons: "OK" and "Order Ink" or something similar. I just clicked on OK because I did not want to order ink thru HP Smart. All of a sudden, I got a page on HP Smart with a green check mark and "Ready", and the "low ink" message on the printer panel went away - the home screen showed there now.
Apparently, you cannot just press "OK" for this "low ink" message ON THE PRINTER control panel: you MUST go thru HP Smart to get rid of it on the printer control panel.
I could not copy or scan without getting rid of the "low ink" message, but I was able to print a page directly from my PC (from Outlook) and the "low ink" message stayed on the control panel the entire time.
So if you are getting a "low ink" message on the printer control panel and clicking "OK" there will not make it go away, you HAVE TO turn on the computer connected to the printer/LAN that has HP Smart installed on it, and click on "OK" on the supply status page in HP Smart where it is only WARNING you that the ink is low, no need to replace cartridges yet, but asks if you want to order ink from HP.
Forced attention to advertising?????? My HP 8600 never did this.
