Microsoft Windows 11

My HP deskjet 610a was printing fine with my ASUS Vivobook 14/15.  I recently shut my laptop down and it updated.  Now,

it won't print.  Keeps saying error.  Tried removing the printer from settings and adding it back on, but having the same problem.

I understand you are facing a driver or compatibility issue caused by the recent Windows update. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Run the Printer Troubleshooter

  1. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  2. Scroll down to Printer and click Run.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to identify and fix any issues.

Step 2: Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  1. Uninstall the Printer Driver:
    • Press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter to open Device Manager.
    • Expand Printers, right-click your HP DeskJet 3050 J610a, and select Uninstall device.
    • Check the box for "Delete the driver software for this device" if prompted.
  2. Download the Latest Driver:
    • Visit the HP DeskJet 3050 J610a Driver Page.
    • Download the latest driver for Windows 11.
  3. Install the Driver:
    • Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • Reconnect the printer via USB when prompted.

Step 3: Set the Printer as Default

  1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  2. Select your HP DeskJet 3050 J610a, click Manage, and then click Set as default.

Step 4: Reset the Print Spooler Service

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Scroll down to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Stop.
  3. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS, and delete all files in this folder.
  4. Return to the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.

Step 5: Test Printing

  • Try printing a test page:
    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
    2. Select your printer, click Manage, and then click Print a test page.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
