HP 8600 All in 1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had to reset my HP 8600 printer to factory defaults because it stopped connecting to my computer and to the internet.  Now I want connect my existing HP ePrint address back to this old printer, but I have not been able to dod so because it says that the address already exists.  The reason I reset the printer is that I was unable to print anything except by using the ePrint method, and had sent docs to the address.  Then, even that didn't work so I reset the printer and now can connect again but cannot access my existing HP ePrint address. I tried to use the Virtual Agent but it did not understand what I was asking and I cannot get through to a person because the printer is out of warranty.  Can someone please help me?

Can I reuse a customized printer email address?

This is tricky – the rules to do so have been removed from the how-to documents.

Truthfully, there were so few instances where it actually worked, that removing the information makes sense (personal opinion).  So, what’s left?  At best, and IF certain conditions are met, you can “transfer” the email address from one account to another.

How to > Set Up an HP Smart / HP Connected Account

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to FAQ:

Read Section / Question: Can I transfer my printer to a different HP Smart account?

Can't do it / Won't work / What to do?

Do what most of us have done,

Change the email address enough that you can use it.

Sometimes, changing just one character or number is enough.

I’ve gone through this several times – never deliberately, just lost control of the address for one reason or another.  One of my addresses is now at edition “3”.

Example

Change MyFancyEPrint @ hpeprint.com  to MyFancyEPrint2 @ hpeprint.com

Hi,

You may also follow below link to contact the HP Privacy Team for such a query and check if that may help:

https://www.hp.com/us-en/privacy/privacy-feedback.html

Be sure to clearly describe the issue, including the previously used HP ePrint Address, your HPSmart.com account email ID and the printer serial number and check if that may help.
