I want to restore a shortcut to the printer screen.  Someone must have deleted the "Scan" option.

Now, there's a message across the bottom of the screen that says "Drag icon here to delete shortcut".

There is no blue menu at the bottom of the printer screen for me to drag an icon from to add to the screen shortcuts.

How can I fix this please.

Thanks

Jenny 🙂

Welcome to the HP Community

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

Remove the USB if connected

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8730-all-in-one-printer-series/790... to download and install the HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 All-in-One Printer driver.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hi,

I have followed your instructions,  but it has not updated the screen on the printer.  The printer still does not have the "Scan" option and there is still the message on the bottom of the screen "Drag Icon here to delete shortcut".

Next step please 🙂

Regards,

Jenny

Could you please send me an image of the screen?

However, try the below steps to create scan shortcut.

Go to PC COE (C:)

Select - Program Files (x86)

Select - HP

Select - your Printer Name

Select - bin

Right click on the HPScan.exe file and select Create Shortcut.

Keep me posted.

Have a great day!

Cheers:)

Please refer to the photo,  shortcut has been deleted on the printer,  not on the computer screen.
