I will print a document but after it is printed it will just stay in the queue after printing

I am using Windows 11, have a HP8600, Model N911a, printer set up. The WiFi is strong and connected. When I print something it will print first item, but it will just stay in queue after it is printed. I can cancel the next print job, that won't print due to the first staying in queue, but the first one just stay and spools.

I understand you're encountering a print queue issue where the first job stays stuck in the queue after printing, preventing any subsequent jobs from printing. Here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve this:

1. Restart Print Spooler Service

The print spooler might be stuck. Restarting the service could clear the issue.

• Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
• Scroll down to Print Spooler and right-click it, then select Restart.
• After that, check if the print job clears and new jobs print correctly.

2. Clear the Print Queue Manually

Sometimes print jobs get stuck in the queue even after the spooler is restarted. You can clear it manually:

• Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
• Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600, and click Open queue.
• If there’s a stuck print job, click it and select Cancel.
• If the job doesn’t clear, go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete any files in this folder.
• Restart the printer and computer.

3. Update Printer Driver

An outdated or corrupt printer driver can cause printing issues. Ensure that you’re using the latest driver:

• Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select it).
• Find Printers, expand the section, right-click your printer, and select Update driver.
• Alternatively, visit the HP support page for your printer to download and install the latest driver for Windows 11.

4. Set Printer as Default

Occasionally, a printer that isn't set as the default can cause printing issues. Ensure your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 is set as the default:

• Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
• Find your printer, select it, and click Set as default.

5. Reinstall Printer

If the issue persists, try removing and reinstalling the printer:

• In Printers & Scanners, select your printer and click Remove device.
• Afterward, reconnect the printer to the WiFi and reinstall it using the Add a printer or scanner option.

6. Check Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

Ensure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Visit the HP support page to download and install the latest firmware for your model.

7. Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, Windows updates can include fixes for printing-related issues. Make sure your system is up-to-date by going to Settings > Windows Update and checking for any available updates.
