Hi @DESERTROSEE, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

I understand you're facing trouble printing cheques on your HP LaserJet Tank MFP 2606sdw, where the cheque gets stuck and needs to be manually removed from the back of the printer. This is likely due to the thickness or texture of the cheque paper causing a paper jam or feed issue.

Here are some steps to help resolve this:

Use the Correct Paper Type

  • Ensure the cheque paper is compatible with laser printers.
  • Avoid using paper that is too thick, glossy, or textured, as it may not feed properly.
  • Check the printer's supported media types in the User Guide.

Load Paper Properly

  • Load one cheque at a time into the main input tray.
  • Adjust the paper guides snugly against the cheque without bending it.
  • Make sure the paper is not curled or folded.

Clear Jammed Paper from Rear Area

If the cheque gets stuck:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Open the rear door and transfer door.
  • Gently pull the cheque downward and straight out to avoid tearing.
  • Avoid pulling from the rear door directly if the paper is deep inside.

Clean Pickup Rollers

Dust or debris on rollers can cause feeding issues:

  • Turn off and unplug the printer.
  • Open the access panel (flip printer on its side).
  • Clean rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
  • Let dry for 10 minutes before closing the panel.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug from wall and wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug back in and power on.

Try Manual Feed (if available)

Some cheque papers work better when fed manually. Check if your model supports manual feed via the HP Smart app or printer settings.

Additional Tips

  • Always select the correct paper type in the print settings (e.g., "Heavy Paper" or "Custom").
  • Avoid printing cheques in duplex mode (double-sided).
  • Keep the printer in a clean, dust-free environment.
