Summary: an image in part of a Microsoft document (word, ppt) is not printing properly - the size is correct but large parts of the image are cropped out
Details: Color LaserJetPro MFP M283cdw, trying to print address labels from MS Word with an image next to the address. The on screen image and print preview both look correct. When printed, the image is the correct size but only the top left part of the image is showing (imagine a 2" by 2" image cropped down to only take the top left 1" by 1"). Text is ok. Doesn't happen with every image. Running MS Windows 10 home.
I ran the print doctor and it says all systems are go. Installed new firmware anyway. We had a similar issue a few weeks ago and deleted then re-inserted a modified version of the original image and it worked. On past printers I have had this problem when there was a mismatch with the driver type, but with this HP Smart app they have I can't tell what driver it's looking at. Tried re-installing HP Smart it but it just hangs up so skipped it. Any real people out there with suggestions?

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that the image is cropped out while printing, I am glad to assist you.
This seems to be a driver issue.
Did you uninstall the printer driver from the root level before installing the HP smart app?
If not, follow these steps:-
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Download and install the printer using HP Smart app
Here are the steps:- Click here
Keep me posted.

The uninstall part went ok, but your instructions are out of date:
Programs and Features is now called Apps & Features
Devices and Printers is now called Printers and Scanners
When uninstalling, you get asked to either Remove the Driver or Remove the Driver & Driver Package. I chose the latter. I had to reboot because it kept saying it was in use.
Also the link you included is just a dump to the App Store, it does not have instructions.
Now I am stuck because "HP Smart" can't detect the printer any more. It seems to remember the printer (shows it on the screen), but can't see it when I hit the "+" to add a printer. I have reset security and network settings, and reconnected to my network. It tells me I need to put the printer back into set up mode, but of course the page that tells you how to do so is wrong - that menu option does not exist. I have drilled through tons of screens and can't find it. But I had the same problem when this was new, this app is garbage, how can it not see the printer that is on the only network everything in my house is connected to? The printer is right next to the router which is right next to the PC. Wi-fi mode, network mode, neither work. I think I had to use a USB cable when I first got the printer. I like this printer but the HP user interface is clearly underdeveloped and not properly tested before release. How can this product which has been on the market for years have such poor instructions? Why should I have to reset everything to detect a network printer? 1.5 hours wasted tonight, and now I can't print at all. Thanks HP, great work.

OK, so I had to completely un-install HP Smart, reinstall it, reconnect the printer to my home network for the 10th time, and finally it connected. I printed, and now it's worse than before. I'm trying to do mailing labels, and before the little image I put next to the adress was getting clipped. Now the image is gone, the lines aren't size correctly and the city/state/zip line is missing. Freaking awesome! I tried a PPT slide and it worked, so it's just standard address labels that I have used for literally decades this printer driver can't handle.
