HP Officejet 8600 Plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought 2 brand new sets of 951XL ink cartridges (z10 for use in US and Canada) from Office Depot in Denver. ALL the cartridges are "incompatible for use in the printer they were made for", WTH! First off is Office Depot selling counter fit cartridges? Or is this a ploy by HP? I have spent almost $200 on genuine HP ink that is worthless. Does anyone have a solution? I tried to reach a human at HP.. but no one is home. Guess they will lose another customer for life if this cannot be resolved.

Thank you.

@lkf99, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I understand you have issues with the newly purchased ink cartridges for the HP Officejet 8600 Plus Printer. I am not sure if you have tried any troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. I'd recommend you follow the steps from the document Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge.

Since you're unable to reach out to our support team, I'd want you to keep me posted for further assistance. I will ensure your issue is addressed.

Thanks for understanding!

Hi.. I have tried all the steps available and the printer still says the M, C, Y cartridges are incompatible. (951 XL) I  bought another set of 951XL's from Office Depot and I get the same message!! These are brand new cartridges from an authorized reseller (Office Depot) They are all z10 for use in US and Canada. I have bought numerous sets of the same cartridges over the years and they all worked fine in the same printer. Now nothing works. Right now I am out $150 plus with HP original cartridges your machine rejects. I have read other posts where a "region Code reset" may work. Otherwise all this goes in the trash and I will buy another manufacturers printer.

How come I cannot reach a human being at HP? Everything is directed to the virtual agent which is just general unhelpful information. I know the printer is out of warranty, but is this is how customers are treated with an endless loop of the same unspecific answers from the virtual agent. (Update firmware, clean the contact points, buy another set of cartridges( Which I did all of the suggestions).

Thank you.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
