Followed all steps to clean and replace black cartridge countless times and $. I removed printer and downloaded software and reinstalled to no avail. What else can I do short of buying a new printer?

Hey there! @JD4308,
Does the issue persist when you put the old ink cartridge back to your printer?
Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges?
Clean the cartridge contacts and check if it helps.
Please try few steps recommended below.
The cartridge might not have full electrical contact with the printer. Removing and reinstalling the cartridge might help.
1.Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
2.Open the scanner lid.
3.Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the cartridge access area of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.
4.To release the cartridge, lift the lid on the cartridge slot, and then gently push the lid back until it stops.
5.Pull up on the cartridge to remove it from the slot.
Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
6.Remove any protective tape that might still be on the nozzles.
caution:
Do not try to remove the copper-colored electrical strip.
7.Hold the cartridge at a slight upward angle with the cartridge contacts facing the rear of the printer, and then slide the cartridge into the empty slot.
8.Close the lid on the cartridge slot to secure the cartridge into place.
note:
Insert the color cartridge in the slot on the left. Insert the black cartridge in the slot on the right.
9.Repeat the previous steps to install the other cartridge, if necessary.
10.Close the cartridge access door.
11.Close the scanner lid.
Also, update the printer firmware to the latest version and check if it helps.

Hi,
Yes the issue(incompatible cartridge(s) error persists when I put the original black cartridge i replaced back in the printer.
Could the problem be I took out both color and black together at once to replace instead of replacing them individually? Is there a fix for that?
Yes I am using genuine HP ink cartridges that I ordered 2 new black cartridges and neither are working. Only the color cartridge loads without error but won't let me print. I get a 'No ink toner error' showing in the print queue.
I am up to date with the most recent firmware, it won't let me load that again. I have cleaned and loaded the new black cartridges now countless times...

Hi! @JD4308,
Thanks for writing back to us.
It sounds like a hardware issue with the printer and not the ink cartridges.
Please contact HP support and get the service options for the printer.
