HP ENVY 5032 All-in-One Printer
 

Every single item I print (test pages, PDFs, PNGs, JPGs, literally everything prints as a pdf header. It looks like this:

Then it prints several pages that are largely blank with the occasional wingdings until we finally cancel the print. It will copy fine. We have gone through every single one of the troubleshooting steps with no luck. A whole lot of googling has turned up nothing. Help!

1. Reinstall the Printer Driver

Uninstall the Printer Driver:

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP ENVY 5032 and select Remove device.
  • Go to Programs and Features and uninstall any HP software related to your printer.

Download and Install the Latest Driver:  Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 5032 All-in-One Printer

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Enter your printer model (HP ENVY 5032) and select your operating system.
  • Download the latest full-feature driver and software package.
  • Install the downloaded software and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer again.

2. Check the Print Settings

Reset Print Settings:

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP ENVY 5032 and select Printing preferences.
  • Go through each tab and click on the Restore Defaults button.

Check Print as Image:

  • Sometimes printing as an image can help with PDF issues.
  • Open the document in your PDF reader (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader).
  • Go to File > Print.
  • Click on Advanced and select Print as Image.

3. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Visit the HP Support website and navigate to your printer's page.
    • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP ENVY 5032.
    • Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

4. Use a Different PDF Reader

5. Print a PDF Test Page

    • Print this test page to see if the issue occurs with different PDF files.

6. Try Printing from a Different Device

  1. Use Another Device:
    • Connect the printer to another computer or device.
    • Try printing the same documents from the new device to see if the problem is specific to the original computer.

7. Factory Reset the Printer

  1. Perform a Factory Reset:
    • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings.
    • Navigate to Printer Maintenance or a similar option.
    • Look for Restore Factory Defaults or Reset All Settings.
    • Confirm the reset and wait for the printer to restart.
