New Envy 6055e
Copied this text from a request for help sent here by another customer in 2022. He or she describes exactly my problem with the Envy 6055e I received from HP today:
// When setting up the printer, I was asked to do the alignment and I followed the procedures shown. After printing out the alignment page, it is supposed that the "copy" button would blink and I would need to put the page on the scanning glass and press the blinking button. However, the "copy" did not flash. When I stilled try pressing it, nothing happen. I have tried many times (I skipped the alignment during set up and come back to this later on). The alignment procedure could never be completed. //
Looks as though you have a problem, still unresolved, from at least 2 years ago.
I tried the solution suggested back then. Didn't work for me, so I skipped the alignment.
Appreciate any help.

Hi @dvdsmth,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you are experiencing a frustrating issue with the initial alignment of your HP Envy 6055e printer. Let's go through a few troubleshooting steps that might help resolve the problem:
Check for Firmware Updates: Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Firmware updates often resolve bugs and improve performance. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the printer's built-in web interface.
Reset the Printer: Sometimes a simple reset can fix alignment issues. To reset your HP Envy 6055e:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Clean the Scanner Glass and Lid Backing: Dirt or debris on the scanner glass or the lid backing could interfere with the alignment process. Clean these areas gently with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Reposition the Alignment Page: When placing the alignment page on the scanner glass, ensure it is positioned according to the markings on the glass. This can be crucial for proper detection.
Manual Alignment: If the automatic process fails, you might be able to perform a manual alignment through the printer settings menu. This option might be available directly on the printer's display or through the HP Smart software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
