HP Deskjet 3755
Microsoft Windows 11

Every time I finish a job with my Deskjet 3755 the printer acts like my color cartridge is empty. If I power cycle the printer it fixes it's self. The cartridge is full does anybody know why this might be happening.

Hi @bikerscout1599,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Deskjet 3755 printer is acting as though the color cartridge is empty, even though it's full, and power cycling the printer temporarily resolves the issue, there could be several reasons for this problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

  • Check Cartridge Contacts: Ensure that the contacts on both the color cartridge and the printer are clean and free of any dust or debris. Dirty contacts can cause communication problems between the cartridge and the printer.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can address cartridge recognition issues.
  • Cartridge Expiration: Check if your color cartridge has an expiration date. Cartridges can sometimes become unrecognized by the printer if they have expired.
  • Cartridge Authentication Chip: Modern HP cartridges often have authentication chips that communicate with the printer. If there's an issue with this chip, it might cause cartridge recognition problems. Try reseating the cartridge or using a different one to see if the problem persists.
  • Printer Software: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers and software installed on your computer. Outdated software can sometimes cause communication issues with the printer.
  • Clean the Printhead: If the printhead is clogged or dirty, it can affect the printer's ability to recognize the cartridge. Many HP printers have a built-in utility to clean the printhead.
  • Use Genuine HP Cartridges: Non-genuine or refilled cartridges may not always work correctly with the printer, leading to recognition issues. Using genuine HP cartridges is recommended for optimal performance.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your printer's software and firmware are up to date. HP often releases updates to address compatibility and performance issues.
  • Reset the Printer: Perform a factory reset on the printer to clear any temporary glitches in its memory.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
