I am getting an error message that says "The following ink cartridge(s) appear to be missing or damaged Refer to printer documentation". But the is not other information shown on the display. I'd think that it would normally show a symbol to indicate a certain cartridge...especially sense it says "the following ink cartridge". Nothing else is shown at all.
Steps I've tried:
1. Turned off, waited five minutes, turned on
2. Open ink cartridge access door, closed door making sure to close firmly
3. Turned off, opened ink cartridge door, removed all cartridges, checked each cartridge including metal pads on chips, wiped metal pads with lint-free cloth, shook each to verify that there was ink, re-installed each cartridge.
4. Removed power cord, waited five minutes, re-installed cord & turned on
There has been no difference with any steps I've tried. The message comes back as soon as it's powered on. There is no start-up sequence, no humming, the scanner did not move.
I need help! Cannot afford a new printer at this time, being unemployed and all!
Thanks in advance!

It could be a cartridge issue here. So if you have any other set we could try that and check if the error goes away.
Let me know if this helps.
