Hi @merleCeed,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

I can truly understand how disheartening it is to face an Ink System Failure on your HP Photosmart Plus B210a, especially after resolving a paper jam and replacing cartridges, only to be met with a persistent error. You're doing everything right, and it's frustrating when the printer doesn’t respond despite your efforts.

Here’s a step-by-step guide from HP to help you troubleshoot this issue:

1. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer using the Power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Reconnect the cord to the printer and turn it on.

2. Clean Cartridge Vents

  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Check the vent area (top of the cartridge) for any adhesive residue or debris.
  • Use a paperclip or pin to gently clear any blockage.
  • Reinsert cartridges firmly into their color-coded slots.

3. Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Ensure you're using genuine HP cartridges. Counterfeit or refilled cartridges can trigger system errors.
  • If you’ve recently replaced cartridges, try a new set if available.

4. Reseat the Printhead (if removable)

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • If your printer has a carriage latch, gently lift it.
  • Lift the printhead slightly, reseat it, and lower the latch.
  • Repeat this step up to three times if the error persists.

5. If All Else Fails

  • The error may indicate a hardware failure, such as a faulty ink pump or PCA board.
  • Since your printer is out of warranty, HP recommends contacting support for service options:
