Hi, I just had refilled my cartridges and it is stating that the ink levels are depleted, I tried running a couple tests and due to them reading empty it fails to complete tests or print a page. When I go onto the hp smart app it states that the color cartridge is damaged (?) and it doesn’t show anything about the black except for it being empty. Is there a way to do a factory reset to see if the cartridges will read properly?
thanks

You say the cartridges are new - do you mean that the cartridges were used, then were refilled?
The cartridges used in the Deskjet 3630 have a bit that is set in the cartridge when the cartridges are depleted. This is in the cartridge, not the printer. The depleted bit cannot be reset. That said, if the cartridges were properly refilled I would expect them to print. The ink levels will still indicate depleted.
It seems you have two different issues with the black and color cartridges:
- The black cartridge is indicating it is depleted. This is expected and there is not a workaround other than replacing the cartridge. You should be able to print with a depleted cartridge as long as there are not other errors.
- The color cartridge indicates an error. The cartridge may have been damaged in the refill process, or there may be an electrical connection issue. The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve this issue.
If the color cartridge error cannot be resolved you can remove the color cartridge and try printing with just the black cartridge in "ink backup mode".
While you may find instructions online to do a factory reset of the printer I would suggest NOT doing this. The factory reset will not clear the depleted bits in the cartridges, and will likely cause your printer to think it is new and require setup cartridges. See the post here for information.
