Hi @PythianServCor

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP 8028 series printer displays a message indicating that the ink cartridge is altered or cloned, it means that the cartridge contains ink not manufactured by HP.

Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:

Use HP Original Supplies:

  • Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges. HP designs cartridges specifically for your printer to guarantee quality and functionality.

Replace the Cartridge:

  • If the cartridge is identified as altered or cloned, it is advisable to replace it with a new, genuine HP cartridge. This ensures that you maintain the print quality and reliability.

Check Cartridge Orientation:

  • Make sure the cartridge is correctly positioned in the slot, with its label readable and right-side up. Incorrect positioning can sometimes lead to error messages.

Contact HP Support:

  • If errors persist even after using genuine HP cartridges, consider contacting HP Customer Support for further assistance.

If you are using generic or non-HP ink cartridges and the above links do not help. You will have to contact the generic ink cartridge manufacturer to assist you further with it, or you will have to use genuine HP ink cartridges to resume printing.
