HP Recommended

I bought this printer a while back and it has never worked properly. I am trying to figure it out. It won't connect to my computer. When I tried to connect using the IP address, the printer would not print the information paper. It makes all the right printing sounds but there is no ink on the piece of paper. Do I need new ink? How do I get the printer to properly print the information sheet?
