4 days back I bought an HP DeskJet 1112 printer that came along with 2 cartridges. After 4 or 5 colour prints, I got the notification that the colour ink is running out. My black ink cartridge is also half now. I want to know if there are cartridges available with more ink or any tips as how to maintain the level of ink. I am using HP Elitebook 8440p Windows 7 32 Bit.
Thank you.!

I actually found out how much your starter cartridges hold.
black setup cartridge: ~135 pages; tri-color setup cartridge: ~100 pages.
So... your math is:
100/20 = 5 pages color.
And yes, you can buy regular or XL cartridges with higher page yields.

First the new cartridges are setup cartridges which don't hold as much ink as regular or XL cartridges. With that said...
Here is a chart to help with Ink Cartridge Page Estimation. All cartridges are based on a 5% coverage when new.
Note: A 5% coverage is about 6 single spaced lines of text on a page. No bold, graphics or pictures. A full color photo would be 100% coverage.
A ‘regular’ page of text would be about 72 lines and give us 30% coverage (more realistic). Don’t forget the font type and size you use will use more ink too.
Example: 564 Standard Black = 250 pages at 5% coverage.
Let’s say your average page coverage you estimate is 30%. So…250/6 = 41.
Therefore the number of pages expected (30% coverage) out of your cartridge would be about 40 pages.
A 564 Standard Color (300 pages) at 100% coverage yields – 300/20 = 15 pages.
*****
Your printer uses HP63 cartridges which are rated at black-190 pages, color-165 pages (at 5% coverage). Again you are using Setup cartridges which have less ink. You are printing color photo's which use 100% ink coverage.
Here is your math for regular HP63 color cartridges.
Color 165/20 = 8 color pages.
You are right on track.
