Ink system failure. Error 0xc18a0206. Turned off and on several times without success. Should I replace ink or is this something more complicated?

@JackF21 I suggest we begin with a power/hard reset, using the below steps:

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

    NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Thanks for your response however, none of the instructions resolved the issue.  Before the printer finishes it's power up cycle the message: "Ink system has failed, unable to print..." appears. I repeated the steps many times to insure I followed them exactly.

@JackF21 If you've followed all the steps mentioned in the link I shared as well, and yet the issue persists, I'm afraid this could be a hardware malfunction,

I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options:

follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on "Continue as guest".

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, is yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,
