All of a sudden, i.e., it was OK a few weeks ago and I’m not aware of any changes, I am getting “Ink System Failure”. Based on some 2d-level messages, I replaced a few ink cartridges, to no avail. The error code is 0xc18a0106. Can someone decode this for me?
Frankly, this printer has lasted 17 years now, so if I need to replace it, it won’t kill me. But I’d like to understand just went wrong. You never know, if it can be fixed, maybe I can squeeze another 17 years out of it! 🤔😉😊

Hi @JeffM23,
I'd like to help!
I understand you are facing an ink system failure error.
Ink system failure error indicates an issue with ink cartridges or the printhead of the printer.
Try the reset the on the printer to resolve the issue-
Reset the printer
Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.
-
If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord from the power source.
-
Wait 60 seconds.
-
Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
NOTE:HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
-
Turn on the printer to complete the reset.
If the issue persists, I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer
