Hi @teun4,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you are encountering an "Ink System Failure" error with your HP Photosmart B109a-m printer and reinstalling the driver did not resolve the issue, there are a few other troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Reset the printer: Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is still on. Wait for about a minute, then plug the power cord back in. Turn on the printer and check if the error message still persists.
- Check ink cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly. Remove the cartridges and reinsert them one by one, making sure they snap into place securely.
- Clean the printhead: Sometimes, clogged printheads can cause ink system errors. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to clean the printhead. You may need to use the printer's built-in cleaning utility or manually clean the printhead with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
- Update firmware: Visit the official HP website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Download and install any updates following the provided instructions. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve software-related issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
