HP inks
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I use HP inks on my HP inkjet 5540 series printer.

I make cards and up until a few month ago everything was fine.

Now the inks smell dreadful and the card retains the smell even when the ink is dry and it remains like that however long I leave it out.

My family recipients are very honest and tell me the card smells gross when the envelope is open.

Not sure what other recipients feel as they are too polite to comment!!

The card itself is fine. It is new and from a reputable source.

Does anyone else have this problem and if so, how have you overcome it?

Thanks

Hz

Hi I would like to assist to the best of my ability to solve your problem.I hope the information i supply will be of help.Just for information some technical information is protected by HP and is not allowed to be answered. This is unfortunate and you will have to contact a HP repair shop for the help in this case.I never noticed the smell of the ink but as far as i know the ink can expire and i think it's water based ink.It might be possible that it can get bad if old.Not sure its the case but see if the expiry date on the ink is still valet.Hope this helps.

Thank you Proffessor.

I think you might have hit on the solution.

I get instant inks because of my high usage, but recently I have not been very active in card making as my aged parents are ill.

Maybe my turnover has been so slow that the ink has deteriorated.

As soon as new ones come, I shall try them and see if the problem disappears.

In the meantime - any other suggestions will be helpful.

Kind Regards Hz1
