HP Deskjet 3510 E

I replaced my HP 3510 printer after years of service. After I did I noticed a couple of printer files I thought that should have been deleted. I did so and since have received Install error - 0x800f020b. I do not have the printer as it was disposed of. Can this error be repaired without the printer? If so I need to know how?

Than You,

Manny

Hi @aaarruf,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering a Windows installation error (error code 0x800f020b) related to your HP Deskjet 3510 printer. This error typically indicates that a required printer driver file or component is missing or corrupted. If you've already deleted some printer files, it might have caused this issue.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the error.

  1. Reinstall Printer Drivers:

    • Download the latest drivers for your HP Deskjet 3510 printer from the official HP website.
    • Install the drivers on your computer even if the printer is no longer connected. The installer might need to extract and configure files necessary for future use.
  2. Windows Update:

    • Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date by running Windows Update. Sometimes, missing components can be resolved through system updates.
  3. DISM and SFC:

    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    • Run the following commands.
      DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth sfc /scannow
    • These commands will check and repair system file corruption. Reboot your computer after these commands finish.
  4. Registry Cleanup:

    • Be cautious when editing the Windows Registry. It's recommended to back up the registry before making any changes.
    • Open the Registry Editor by pressing Win + R, typing regedit, and pressing Enter.
    • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-3.
    • Delete any subkeys related to your old printer.
  5. Clear Spooler Files:

    • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    • Stop the Print Spooler service by running:
      net stop spooler
    • Delete the contents of the C:\Windows\System32\spool\printers folder.
    • Start the Print Spooler service again:

      net start spooler
  6. Check Windows Features:

    • Open Control Panel and go to "Programs" -> "Turn Windows features on or off."
    • Ensure that the "Print and Document Services" features are enabled.

After performing these steps, try reinstalling the printer drivers again

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Aldon,  While your answer may have corrected my problem, (caused by myself), I am not comfortable attempting the process. As you can tell I think I know just enough to get into trouble.) If I could get yourself or an HP tech rep to do it, I would be grateful. Thank You for attempting to help me with this problem.

Hi all,

I had the same issue and ended up removing the printer(s) from Devices and Printers under settings in Windows 11. I retried Windows Update and it worked this time! It should just be a matter of reinstalling the printer now, but thought I'd share!

Happy Holidays! 🙂

I have the same issue on my laptop, I have a network printer installed - OfficeJet 8010 series and although I work fine with the printer and scanner, Windows Update keeps getting error 0x800f020b for hp - printer 8.0.1372.8952 update.

And... it's not just me. Everybody in the company has the same issue, and not only with the the above mentioned model.

The solution is to go through all this manual procedures - install drivers, clean up windows registry, ...?

Do we have to do that to all the PCs in the company?

Why do the HP updates keep failing to install?

Does HP software have a problem with Windows?

Or does Windows have a problem with HP?
